I'm Falling Apart

one body part at a time...

On Friday I had an emergency appendectomy. Can you believe it? Two weeks after having a baby, I need to have an appendectomy!?!?! So now my midsection is sore (it makes propping a breastfeeding baby a tad difficult). I also have a ganglian cyst on my wrist that I have a consultation for removal on Wednesday, an allergy appointment later this month plus I still have a kidney stone on the right side that needs to be blasted.

I was as healthy as a horse before this pregnancy. This little girl has done me in, either that or I am just getting old.

  1. Wow...sorry you had to have your appendix removed.

I have a small ganglian cyst on my wrist too, but I'm too chicken to have it removed.

  2. Well, that explains the short break in craft posts! :) So sorry to hear about your emergency procedure. When it rains, it pours! I'll keep you in my prayers and keep us posted on what the doc says. As far as breastfeeding, is your daughter old enough and breastfeeding well enough to try it laying on your side in bed? Maybe that would help until your incision heals.

  3. OUCH! I hope you get to feeling better soon. I was 5 months pregnant with my oldest when I had to have an emergency appendectomy. It's no fun thing so I'm feeling for you. I also have a cyst on my wrist...dr. said he could remove it but it was possible it would come back. It doesn't bother me unless I hit it so I'm ignoring it!
    Feel better soon! :)LIsa

  5. What's with everyone and their "wrist cysts"? I've never heard of such a thing. Is there something that causes it?

Sorry you're getting your booty kicked right now. Hope you feel better soon. Do you have a mom or a mom-in-law in town to help while you're recovering?

  7. Oh owie!! I was nursing my son when I had to have an emergency appendectomy. I checked myself out of the hospital two hours after surgery (against medical advice) and MAN was I sore and painful!! I just didn't want the appendectomy (and overnight hospital stay) to hurt our nursing.

What worked best for me for nursing was the football hold with my son propped up on pillows next to me.

Good luck and I hope your tummy feels better very soon!!

  8. Oh wow! I am glad they were able to remove your appendix in time. My MIL had a big deal with hers ~ the doctors poopoo'd her symptoms, and she ended up having it burst and falling down the steps in her home. She's had all sorts of issues since then because of how it affected all of her internal organs.
    Take it easy!!

  9. Holy cow! Goes to show you, how hard having a baby really is on your body.

I had an appendectomy just before we got married, MISERABLE experience. I'm sorry you had to go through that!

    Feel better soon, friend!

  10. Oh my !!! Hope you feel better soon ... I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist too and it disapeared on its own (thanks god as it was ugly ... lol) but it took time for it to dosapear.

  11. Oohhh...I'm so sorry I hope they got it before it ruptured - yikes! I wish a speedy recovery.

And yes...I'm convinced both of my children are responsible for destroying my body. I ended up in surgery to repair an umbilical hernia after my first daughter was born (breastfeeding was VERY uncomfortable for about a week) I think I pumped for the first few days to supplement some bottles and give myself a break but only took tylenol for the post-op pain because I didn't want her getting any heavy meds from me! Then I ended up with several kidney stones between pregnancies - the lithotripsy was a walk in the park compared to the abdominal surgery.

Or it's the whole 30's thing conspiring against me.

  18. Sorry to hear that.
I can honestly say I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I had mine removed 8 days post-partum (thrid son). I couldn't eat for 6 weeks. I lost a ton of weight though. I'm still having problems 8months later.
Good luck and let EVERYBODY baby you. Please.
    Get well soon!

  19. Oh my goodness girl. You have been through a lot the last few weeks. But you are strong, it's a redhead thing. I would only know that because my entire family is redheaded, except me. :(
Hang in there and take it easy. Put the sandpaper and paint down for a few more days.
    Blessings and prayers

  20. That is awful! At least your baby is still under 10 lbs so you can still carry her. I had to ignore Miesha for a couple weeks and that officially turned her into a Daddy's girl. I am still sad about that.

I hope you have a super speedy healing process and are up and about again soon.

Do you have someone who can help you?

    Smiles,
    Janell

  24. goodness! I'm way behind!! I'm glad to hear you are ok and the surgery went well.

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time. The enemy totally want to isolate you right now in the midst of it. Don't let him. Force yourself to answer the phone!

Don't forget to consider post pardum depression...baby blues. It's ok to get help! Talk to your doctor!! Why suffer if you don't have to!
    love ya
