Mess #1 This week I started tackling little organization projects around the house. I opened my hall closet and realized life had thrown up all over the place and now it looks like this...
Hold that thought...I am going to google what I am talking about... (p.s. Don't you ♥ how google has become a verb?)
Ok I am back. I found something I kinda like...
I want something similar to this, this or this. Then I want to store all my games on the shelves. I have so many board games I could open a game store. I am kind of a nerd like that. And right now the game organization I have is not goin' on. (Mess #2)
So tonight when dear hubby comes home I think I will leave him with the kiddos and look around at some storage solutions.
Next, I picked up this over-the-door ironing board for my studio. The only problem is that the way it works would make me iron in my closet...not going to work. I really wanted one of those mounted-to-the-wall ironing boards. The cheapest I could find was $250. Not going to happen. So I decided to rig it up. I drilled 4 holes into the ironing board frame (two at the top and two at the bottom).

Oh -- by the way the ironing board is not for ironing clothes. I despise ironing. I use it for sewing and craft projects. DUH!! I may figure out a way to disguise it...maybe put a shutter over it or something cute like that. We'll see if it drives me crazy just hanging out there. But for $20 it will do the trick for now. I definitely need a new cover for the ironing board --that definitely does not match.
Come on, show me your mess...maybe it will be messier than mine and then I will feel better.
I know the feeling...Hope this will make you feel better!

You are a brave, brave woman. I have to be honest though...i'm so glad someone else has the same messes as me. Sisterhood of messes. YEAH!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that. I'm now going to go shut all my doors so I don't have to look at my messes and I can continue to blog! :)
I have the same problem with throwing random stuff in a closet... our master closet is the only "storage" we really have... and as I see clutter around before we are having company over, into the closet it goes... only problem is I don't work on putting (or getting rid of the clutter) until much, much later, when the clutter has established it's own country in there and I have to actually wage war! : (
ReplyDeleteI am 30 and have been married over 9 years... you'd think I'd have learned by now.
We all have this challenge, I'm excited to see how you tackle it!
ReplyDeleteUhhhh, BRILLIANT with that ironing board!
ReplyDeletehow boutcha head on over here when you're all done there...
ReplyDeleteDon't we all have those messy spaces that we hide from ... or at least I do! Hopefully you post your "after" shots of the closet - always love getting ideas on how best to organize my clutter!
ReplyDeleteI'm a blog hopper and found your site. . .LOVE all the tips and crafty ideas. I don't have the time, but I'm getting there (kids growing up and all. . .).
ReplyDeleteI wanted to share a tip with you about the ironing board. . .my daddy made me an ironing board that fits on top of a TV tray. So it's square that I can sit right next to me when I'm using the sewing machine, and then when I'm done, it slides between the wall and my sewing desk and the TV tray goes back in the closet. LOVE it! Now that you have your ironing board hung, you probaby don't want to switch, but in the future, it's a thought.
Thanks again for the great crafty ideas!!
Im in the middle of packing, so my messes are definitely bigger!!! I am trying to do a little bit everyday, as to not get overwhelmed at the end-
ReplyDeleteYou had me at the picture your big closet....
ReplyDeleteand I've been awestruck ever since.
As scary as it is to post those "messy" photos it's kinda "freeing" too! I posted some real doozies and I'm glad to see someone elses did too.
ReplyDeleteI have about a three hour period tomorrow morning where I am setting those hours aside to organize. Thanks for sharing your "messy" places with us!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I do love a mess! I'll have to look around. I'm sure I won't have to look far.
ReplyDeletegreat idea with the ironing board! ours is over a door right now that totally blocks access from the garage if someone is using it (not that that happends often!) --would be nice to relocate!...I am going to post mess pics now and see if they inspire me to clean and organize them.
ReplyDeleteMy messy house would make you feel so good! Between morning sickness and baby making me seriously exhausted (sleeping like 12-16hrs a day!! Ridiculous!) my house is seriously neglected and I am also in the middle of packing up the whole thing to move. Excited to be back in the states. Only 6 more weeks. We wanna try to see you guys at some point. Our sept and oct will be quieter. What are you guys up to then? Hugs, Janell
