As promised, here is how I transformed a “destined-for-the-landfill” bench into a useful bookshelf for my kiddos books.
1. First I deconstructed the bench by taking the decorative panel off the front using a hammer and screwdriver to pry it off.
2. Then I took the back piece off in the same way and it looked like this.
3. Using a circular saw and safety goggles I cut off the legs of the bench.
7. After it was dry I set the shelf on top of the playroom cubbies. I love projects that create more storage in my house.
The total cost was $3.50 for a can of spray paint.
Another Roadkill Rescued!
Very clever the way you took it all apart and put it back together! Cute bookshelf...

ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call a rescue!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!! I could use something to keep the books separate from the rest of the toys.

ReplyDeleteQuick question...do you not have a blog button...or am I just missing it? I need to put one on my blog!

Very clever! I like how the scallops were already part of the bench and you were able to use them in your bookshelf.
