I am so tired of thinking about it, stressing about it, and wondering what people will think of it. I am OVER being shy and insecure. I am just going to do it...no turning back...no psycho analyzing. I am DONE!
My etsy shop is up and has been for months and I have been too chicken to tell you people.
Here's my deal: I can't sell things I make. #1 I am very cheap and never know what to charge for my time. #2 If people think my stuff is lame then I think they think I am lame...everything I make is a piece of me I guess and opening up my etsy shop means I will put myself out there.
I like to play it safe in my own little studio and make stuff for myself and my friends. I am just certain the only one who will buy something will be my mom. She is supportive and loving like that. But then there is this small part of me that wonders if I could sell some stuff to help support my crafting habit. I will never know until I try.
So with fear and trepidation...I'm open for business. I may chicken out and close it in a week but for now I am open...
okay Beckie...now just click the "publish post" button...you can do it...
breathe in....
breathe out...
whoooooo.....
click!
I love all those things! And I think you've priced them well. I'll be stashing away your necklaces in my mind for some day in the future when I feel like I can spend money on myself again. The car seat tent is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteCute stuff!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I have a baby someday...definitely like the car seat tent!
Yeah!!!! I'm gonna do a shout out on my blog for ya! I gotta go look at your shop!
ReplyDeleteMacey
Your stuff is adorable - I especially love the mirror! I'll keep checking back for new items!
ReplyDeleteYay! I too am chicken. I've started to work on the shop, but haven't listed anything. It's hard to know about pricing. That's what I struggle with too. I love the handstamped necklaces!
ReplyDeletepfft. Don't be a dork. Of course it'll do well. Geez.
ReplyDelete:)
The sky is NOT falling.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you!
:::off to have a looksie:::
What amazing stuff! Great prices...I don't see anything lame Ü
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you - hope it all goes well.
ReplyDeleteYay for you! Good job. You have way more stuff you make that you can sell! Are you in the process getting more stuff up on your etsy shop? What about your hooter hider? Or that great hooded towel you make (that I still use, btw!). Those baby shoes too. Sell it all!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you!! I know, I'm the same way. Everything looks awesome by the way.
ReplyDeleteThe "bipron" is a very clever idea.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I'm gonna head over and check your stuff out!
ReplyDeleteI fixed something on my blog, just for you, btw. :)
I havent even looked at your shop and I already know it must be awesome. I found your blog several months ago and have enjoyed your treasures so much. Never allow your lack of confidence to get the better of you......you have fans girl and I am proudly one of them. Gotta go....gotta go check out your shop.
ReplyDeleteI know just how you feel. I have been wanting to start selling on etsy but I just can't get up the guts. It's hard to put yourself out there!
ReplyDeleteGreat prices. i am waiting on you to sell that bag you made a few post ago. I NEEDS IT!
ReplyDeleteHuray! You've opened up your shop. I was kind of like that too until I tried and tada! It sold! The first item I made was a zebra quilt and the lady at the quilt shop told me she thought it would look crapy from my discription of what I had in my mind. However, her mouth dropped when she saw it. She told me it was worth about $700 dollars but it would probably be hard to sell. I was tickled pink when I saw her again just weeks latter and was able to tell her that I sold it for $1500.
ReplyDeleteSo now I'm not shy about quilts anyway but still about other things.
A few weeks ago I made my first teddy bear. It was not much to look at but it sold right away for $60 dollars. My husband nearly fell over. Then I made another, a little better this time. and it sold for $70. Now I'm making lovely bears and I'm not shy about charging. So this week on to new projects and we shall see how they sell.
Good Luck!! Sorry so long!
I'm really proud of you!! Everything looks great, and the ball is just starting to roll. You're going to do great!
ReplyDeleteHey Beckie, was just going to tell you that I was messing around on Facebook and there was an advertisement for car seat tents. I clicked to see what they were charging. 39.95 for ONE!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you got the market on this one. You should put that in the description. They sell elsewhere for 40 bucks! And yours are just as cute, if not cuter!: )

Your post title cracked me up --- I kept waiting for a picture of a kid dressed in an amazing chicken costume heading out to Burger King for free burgers -- I so thought of you in AZ when I dined at Chick Filet this past week! Glad you finally gave it a go - and really glad the profits are going toward your crafting hobby - I foresee some new cool things!
ReplyDeleteIt's about time! Your stuff is amazing... if anyone thinks otherwise I'll punch em'. Seriously though... you needed to do this ages ago... your stuff rules!
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you Beckie!! Can't wait to share the site with everyone I know. You need to make me some cards to keep in my super cute birdie sling to give out to all those who compliment it!!
ReplyDeleteI love your stuff. Especially the Julie necklace. I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby and as soon as we have it, I'm totally ordering one with both kids on it.
ReplyDeleteWooHoo -- it's lookin' good Beckie -- Congratulations! You'll have to do some soldered pendants!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world are you worried about? Everything looks great! I can't say a lot, because my husband say I feel the same way you do, that is why I don't have an etsy shop. You are gonna do great! Way to go ! Jackie
ReplyDeleteLove your etsy creations!!! :D
